The Montana Land and Mineral Owners Association (MLMOA) was organized in the mid-1970s to counter and resolve problems that we land and mineral owners were having with the oil and gas corporations.  Our organization developed policies that were and are currently being used as guidelines for our members and oil and gas industry representatives.  We continue to develop new and refine the old policies and guidelines as legislation, times and situations change.

We currently have over 150 members that own or have interest in approximately 1.5 million acres of private land, primarily in north central Montana.  The majority of our members are located in Chouteau, Blaine, Hill, Liberty, and Phillips Counties, with some representation in other Montana counties as well as outside of our state.

Members receive a booklet that contains recommended forms and policies that will help them negotiate lease contracts and acceptable payment terms for seismic exploration, surface damages and various easements.

Members also receive Information on local, regional and national topics of concern, such as oil and gas legislation, state and area leasing and drilling activities through the MLMOA newsletter.
